Members of champion pétanque team La Boule New Yorkaise present Bryant Park Pétanque, to give you newbies a chance to hone your skill long before Bastille Day tournaments and festivities bring the sport to Carroll Gardens. Similar to the Italian boule game of bocce, pétanque uses a series of metal balls that are thrown (from within a small circle; your feet must be together and remain on the ground) at a small wooden jack (cochonnet), to see who can get the closest. Just try not to kiss fanny, OK?
