Rennie Harris' latest work for dynamic dance company Philadanco captures the fractured political and social climate of the company's home city of Philadelphia, but it might as well be a chilling portrait of Anywhere, USA, in these demoralizing economic times. In Philadelphia Experiment, Harris' hip-hop style blends elements of street and club moves with African dance, showcasing the troupe's abilities while elevating a sly subtext to a caustic social commentary about African-American lives. This NYC premiere is joined by a number of other works, including Christopher L. Huggins' Enemy Behind the Gates, a chilling, signature work portraying a drone-like military society.
