BAMcinemaFEST replaces the popular Sundance at BAM season with a slightly smaller but still impressive lineup of New York premieres including Humpday, the offbeat bromance that delighted audiences earlier this year in Park City. Other highlights include In the Loop, Armando Iannucci's (BBC's The Thick of It) zany satire focusing on the miscommunication between high-ranking officials during wartime, featuring James Gandolfini as an arrogant American general; and Big Fan, Robert Siegel's (The Wrestler) dark comedy about the limits of fan devotion with comedian Patton Oswalt in a breakthrough "serious" role. The festival also features a full day of shorts including an animated program, outdoor screenings, and acclaimed French director Arnaud Desplechin (Kings and Queen) discussing two of his favorite films: Francois Truffaut's Mississippi Mermaid and Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums.
