Galerie Zurcher says…

"Greater than an earful of CoolWhip or getting frisked at Newark Airport," Wild Feature lives up to its debaucherous premise, showing an exuberant group of works from some of Brooklyn's finest. A full-throttle tour de force curated by artist Brian Belott, this exhibition warms up Parisian Galerie Zurcher's new Bowery project space. An otherworldly innocence pervades the room: space explodes and literally turns in on itself in Melissa Brown's Spacewreck (folded); rough-hewn aliens greet the viewer through retro monitors in Misaki Kawai's Space Station; and a man is consumed by a fuming barrel in an apocalyptic landscape in Taylor McKimens' Burnin' Barrel. The frenzy comes back to earth in Brendan Cass' Uuisuapunki, a vast elastic landscape that alchemizes kitch tourism imagery into the sublime marks of expressionistic painting.
