Colum McCann launches a book tour for his fifth novel — a braided tale that begins with Philippe "Man on Wire" Petit and his grand tightrope stunt of 1974 between the Twin Towers. McCann found inspiration for the book in James Joyce and his depictions of the "messy layers of human experience." As Let the Great World Spin unfolds, he deftly reveals the extent to which the lives of the tightrope-onlookers intersect, and the implications of these connections. Tonight, the author hits the Union Square outpost of Barnes & Noble to read from this latest work.
