It truly is one of those "only in New York" moments: you have to ask yourself how many other cities would play host to an Egg Rolls and Egg Creams festival. As the name indicates, this yearly celebration of the geographical proximity of Chinatown to the Lower East Side is a delicious meeting of cultures. But food isn't the only attraction on offer; the long-established street fair along Eldridge also features calligraphy artists, dancers, music from both the klezmer and Chinese opera traditions, and language lessons from the Jewish and Chinese communities who call the area home.
