Touted as the conceptual love child of Ed Sullivan and David Lynch, Ferocious Spectacular, Episode One: The Black Death marks the first of a series of spectacle-based concerts directed and hosted by Jonathan Jacobs, aka the Vintage DJ (of the weekly show Time Machine on East Village Radio). Jacobs' virgin foray into spectacular ferociousness features the music of M. Lamar, a classically trained countertenor and songwriter who channels heavy-hitting crooners like Diamanda Galás and Paul Robeson. Lamar's intoxicating song and voice find mesmerizing match in the moves of the Ferocious Spectacular dancers and a comic by the name of Crabcake.
