Ponderosa Stomp @ Lincoln Center
Featuring Mac Rebennack, The Dixie Cups, Jean Knight, Robert Parker, Zigaboo Modeliste, Dorothy Moore, Tammy Lynn, tony Owens, Michael Hurtt, and Wardell Quezergue.
Composer/arranger Wardell Quezergue has helped to shape southern soul music for over 45 years, melding the soulful sounds of Mississippi, Memphis, and New Orleans into giant hits including Mr. Big Stuff, Iko Iko, and Chapel of Love. An array of talented musicians pay tribute to teh "Creole Beethoven," joined by Wardell Quezergue's Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, an all-star band led by Quezergue himself in a rare New York appearance. The Ponderosa Stomp serves as a showcase for living history and thriving art, praising the unsung hereos of American music.
