Tonight's lineup is filled with MCs that have built careers in rap's underground; highly respected within the industry, possessing packs of die-hard fans, but lacking the publicity they truly deserve. Both Aceyalone (nine albums since 1995) and 88-Keys (Black Star, Pharcyde producer-cum-solo-MC) have an unwavering dedication to those fans and the art form they support. The real gem tonight, however, is Chali 2na, a man less recognizable by name than by the smooth baritone he's mesmerized us with as a member of Jurassic 5. But forgive him, and yourselves, if you haven't heard of him just yet: with the release of his first solo album this month and a spot on the Rock the Bells tour, Chali 2na has emerged from the depths.
