When you're an up-and-comer in the pop/hip-hop charts, it's helpful to know Wale — the artist with more crossover appeal than weed (according to Rolling Stone). It also helps to know Kanye West — even if he did kill Auto-tune (according to Jay-Z). It's no coincidence that the two headliners for tonight's event, Mike Posner and Big Sean, happen to be connected to those artists respectively. Posner, a student at Duke University, has been heralded as the best of the young crop of pop-hop producers and songwriters. Meanwhile, Big Sean is coming up on Kanye's GOOD Music imprint, earning the respect of Pharrell, who worked with Sean on his recent mixtape Finally Famous.
