In attempting to describe the music of Black Moth Super Rainbow, the same adjectives always come up: "psychedelic" and "experimental." But really, we aren't going to do much better here; the descriptions are apt. Despite bubblegum and sunshine being frequently referenced in song lyrics and titles, the band is not pop — at least not in the traditional Beach Boys-melody sense. Instead, the band utilizes synthesizers to create hazy, pulsing textures, all of which are anchored by throbbing bass lines. Vocals are sung exclusively through a vocoder effect, only increasing the disorienting effect of the music.
