Promising "movies, music & revolution," BAM's annual Afro-Punk fest features acclaimed docs like the quiet A Man Named Pearl, the stirring Attica, and The Night James Brown Saved Boston, which follows the Godfather's legendary concert amidst nationwide race riots following the assassination of MLK Jr. This being the 20-year anniversary of Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, that joint also gets a screening. On the music tip, we're particularly stoked for Saul Williams with Janelle Monáe on Monday. But crunk-hop's CX Kidtronik, old-schooler Hollywood Holt, local soul-rockers Earl Greyhound, and underground drums 'n guitar duo the Ooohh Baby Gimme Mores — whose rockitude belies its awful name — take the stage, accompanied by skate and BMX demos and competitions (with $5000 in prizes on the table).
