A thoroughly original and frequently hilarious new play, the Amoralists' The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side places the audience inside the apartment shared by two men and two women — an anarchist "tribe" in a four-way romantic relationship that runs a vegan restaurant downstairs. When Evan, the preppy, judgmental younger brother of the idealist Billy, comes to visit, and the tribe members learn they're all being kicked out to make way for luxury condos, a fantastic, hysterical, and heartrending breakdown occurs. The cast commits to the fantasy fully, creating an indelible portrait of an alternative family thrown into chaos.
