Hiding Behind Comets takes place on a slow night for bartender Troy. His twin sister Honey and girlfriend Erin urge him to close early and party, yet he insists on waiting out his only customer Cole, a newcomer in town. Playwright Brian Dykstra takes this simple premise and leads his four characters toward surprising confrontations with their own identities and responsibilities. The well-written script's frank sexual banter, snappy dialogue, and continual suspense make for a thrilling one-act, while John Trevellini's literal in-your-face direction keeps audience members on the edge of their seats, with discomfort levels high.
