It's hard to keep a grin off your face as you watch Matt & Kim tap into their seemingly bottomless wellsprings of joy. They look genuinely ecstatic as they hammer out peppy pop anthems, Matt navigating a mess of synths and Kim frenetically pounding away at a stripped-down drum kit. It's these exuberant performances that lent the band its original hype and have sustained it in the two years since the release of its frantic, but brief, self-titled debut. The group's sophomore record, Grand, dropped this year, accompanied by a scantily clad music video.
