The many images of the loose-haired, barefoot, and tunic-clad modern-dance pioneer Isadora Duncan suggest the outdoors. For one summer night, Lori Belilove & the Isadora Duncan Dance Company, along with junior company the Beliloveables, perform Isadora's dances against a natural setting, provided by the gardens of the Alice Austen House on Staten Island. The location is an inspred one, since Austen's career as a photographer was as rare for a woman in the early-20th century as Duncan's was as a choreographer. The program celebrates the theme of nature, common in both women's work. Voice-over narration and background information serve as an introduction and reminder to the not-so-genteel era in which these ladies created.
