It has been 25 years since Tulsa Ballet last appeared here, and the company's Joyce debut program reflects Artistic Director Marcello Angelini's commitment to the 53 year-old company's classical roots and promotion of new dances. (Interestingly, Angelini is one of the few non-New York City Ballet alumns running an American company.) The oldest piece, Kenneth MacMillan's Elite Syncopations (1974), is a colorful abstraction set to Scott Joplin. Nacho Duato's Por Vos Muero (Give my last breath), takes its name from Garcilaso de la Vega's sonnet and is danced to Spanish Renaissance music. Last year, Young Soon Hue choreographed This Is Your Life for Tulsa, and, yes, it is based on the '50s TV show that ambushed a celebrity guest with a living biography.
