Most movie buffs are familiar with the American film noir canon, but outside of The Third Man (1949), most are completely unaware of the rich British noir tradition, a failing that Film Forum hopes to rectify with their ongoing Brit Noir series. Tonight's double feature is a screening of Night and the City (1950), director Jules Dassin's expressionistic journey through the sleazy London underground, joined with It Always Rains on Sunday (1947), an emotionally brutal thriller from influential genre director Robert Hamer.
