Finally, a solution to all those pesky construction-site eyesores downtown. Downtown Alliance, in a stroke of genius, has developed and carried out the idea of urban art, while simultaneously revamping the street barriers and scaffolding that comprise the future of lower Manhattan. Walking around the area, we've seen an array of creative transformations to brighten our corners. Take a stroll and see (to name a few) the bright fabric of Rachel Hayes' Rainbow Conversation around Louise Nevelson Plaza, the blown-up graphite and ink work of Ellen Berkenblit's Poster Project at 50 Trinity on the construction barricades there, or the bright flowers printed by Nina Bovasso on the Hudson River Park Jersey Barriers, Botanizing on the Asphalt. And keep an eye out for much more in this vein in the next three years.
