"The choir stole the show." —The New York Times on the Schola Cantorum de Venezuela
In addition to their performance in A Flowering Tree, the Venzuelan chorus Schola Cantorum de Venezuela performs a stunning program of a cappella works inspired by the colors, rhythms, and fantastical elements of Adams' opera. Last appearing to great acclaim during the 2007 Mostly Mozart Festival, the group explores different musical languages in the contemporary choral repertoire, blending traditional elements, virtuosic rhythms, and contrasting vocal colors.
Alberto Grau, founder and conductor
María Guinand, conductor and artistic director
Ana María Raga, associate conductor
