Joe's Pub says…

Take the timelessness of Patsy Cline. Mix in the insatiable curiosity of Socrates. Give it an edge, a roughness, refined in the spirit but raw in the performance. You'll start to have an idea of what makes up Amber Rubarth. NPR loves "her honesty and humor." Her musical hero Tom Waits helped choose her as 1st place in the International Songwriting Competition. And her songs have generated over 1.3 million plays on MySpace. How does this happen? The Boston Herald says simply, "She's a natural." She's also used the Net and her own resourcefulness to build her career to be a self-sustaining musician starting from nothing only a few years ago. She is a permanent tour throughout the US and Europe.

THREEDS is a new ensemble comprised of active freelance oboists in the New York City area. Threeds has most recently been invited to perform at the Trinity Church Wall Street as part of their prestigious Concerts at One Series, at the Grace Chapel in Silver Bay, NY (Lake George) on their “Music for Summer Evenings” series, at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn as part of their “Classical Candy” series and at the Bloomingdale School of Music in Manhattan. Threeds will also be featured on a chamber music series in the West Palm Beach area next winter. The trio enjoys playing a wide range of music from the baroque period to new compositions written by composers of this century. Individually, each of the oboists in Threeds are accomplished freelance musicians and have played in many prestigious orchestras including the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony, Cork Opera, the Key West Symphony, the Albany Symphony, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Reading (PA) Symphony, the Westchester Philharmonic and the Long Island Philharmonic. Members of Threeds have also performed on Broadway shows, played on several popular music albums and on Emmy-nominated independent film soundtracks
