If you've never made it out to Long Island City's Water Taxi Beach outpost, you're missing out on one of NYC's best summertime night spots. And if that's not a good enough reason, then perhaps tonight's guest will further our case. Berlin's Frank Timm, aka Soundstream, has only a few releases to his name, but what he lacks in quantity, he more than makes up for in quality. In a scene where many releases have the lifespan of a week (or less), Timm's tracks — constructed from a few simple repetitious elements — have a timeless quality that recalls the seminal sound of early Chicago house. Tonight, he premieres his live set in the States as Manhattan glimmers across the East River.
