Joe's Pub says…

"this two man variety talk show has fun with gender while dipping into everything from German cabaret to pop music to audience participation."
-Time Out New York

This two man modern day cabaret is:
Sonny & Cher meets Kurt Weill in a late night uncensored format, blending classic cabaret, modern composition / performance, audience interaction, pop music deconstruction, and comedy. Jeffrey Marsh and Rick Sorkin having been working together since 2001.

With the trembling voice of Vincent Price and the sinister presence of Boris Karloff, Clay McLeod Chapman... uses the macabre to explore the humanity of his characters and reveal an almost spiritual side to the horrific.
–New York Times

Downtown hipster raconteur Clay McLeod Chapman wears his heart on his sleeve – a bloody, still-beating organ safety-pinned to his cuffs. [A] whimsical yet bone-chilling romantic.
–Time Out New York

"Like a collection of David Sedaris short stories, these are imaginative, slightly surreal tales that will stay with you for years."
–CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Center)

Clay McLeod Chapman
will present a set-list of short stories, both new and old. Veering off the meandering trail blazed by Southern Gothic stylists such as Flannery O'Connor, Truman Capote, and Carson McCullers, Clay McLeod Chapman strikes out in his own distinctive direction with his tales that pierce the heart and unsettle the mind. He speaks in the voice of the New South, haunted by the past, often uncomfortable in the present, and distinctively, even disturbingly all its own.
