Rubin Museum of Art says…

A book launch for actor and writer Jessica Blank's Karma for Beginners.

The tale follows fourteen-year-old Tessa whose mother, a frustrated hippie with awful taste in men, pulls her out of school to live at an ashram in the Catskills. Tessa goes from being a freak among normal people to being an outcast among freaks. While her mom is buzzing with spiritual energy and finding a little too much favor with the guru, Tessa's taking dangerous risks to be with Colin, the gorgeous guy who fixes trucks for the ashram. Soon her life is spinning into a psychadelic web of secrets and lies, and it’s clear that something’s about to give way.

Jessica Blank has appeared in several films, including The Namesake, On the Road with Judas, and Undermind. She is coauthor (of the award-winning play The Exonerated, based on the interviews conducted with more than forty exonerated death row inmates across America; She is also the author of the critically acclaimed novel Almost Home. Jessica lives in Brooklyn.

A Special Karma for Beginners tour starts at 6:15pm. Jessica will read from her novel at 7:15pm.
