Cedar Lake is known for innovative and striking performances that subvert traditional dance tropes and expand the medium. Past shows have blurred lines between performers and audience, theatre and dance — but this new show at the Chelsea Art Museum might be the most daring of them all. Artistic Director Benoit-Swan Pouffer has created a piece using the Iran Inside Out exhibit as inspiration, backdrop, and collaboration, while exhibition artist Reza Derakshani provides a live score. The rest of the details are being kept under wraps, leaving us teeming with anticipation.
