This exhibition follows Will Ryman's popular springtime showing of The Bed at the Saatchi Gallery Project Room in London. Here, the artist's 39 sculptures — portraying clusters of giant roses, random detritus (golf balls, Coke cans, gum wrappers), and a few busy insects — give us a rodent's-eye view of a New York City rose garden. Some crushed, others in bloom, and side-by-side with the pollution that threatens their existence, the roses don't hide their durable cores of steel and plaster — a humorous reminder that, unlike the real thing, these plants can be transplanted elsewhere to show off their eternally vibrant pinks and reds.
