Environmental documentaries have been popping up at an increasingly rapid rate, providing lots of proselytizing, but little action. No Impact Man promises a welcome departure from this model, as filmmakers Laura Gabbert and Justin Schein follow Colin Beavan in his year-long quest to dramatically reduce his carbon footprint. In the process, Beavan swears off automated transportation, packaged anything, processed food, electricity (eventually), and other creature comforts we take for granted. His own admitted liberal guilt, his wife's hilarious sarcasm and skepticism in joining him, and an environmental dressing-down from a neighborhood gardener all help make this doc not simply a lecture, but actual entertainment.
