FIAF's yearly, interdisciplinary festival Crossing the Line presents a three-week slate of exciting new works by artists from New York and France. The inspired schedule commences with a do-as-they-do dance performance in Central Park, with French choreographers teaching short, specially created routines to the masses; thereafter, picnics are in order with an exquisite bento box made by chefs like Michel Bras and David Chang. Each happening contains a similar, inspiriting energy: there's Metamkine's live "musico-cinematic" composition; Visual System's network of interactive art, A Digital Experience...; Matsune & Subal's jocose and conceptual store, which sells 60-plus movements and actions; and plenty of outstanding dance performances.
