Rollicking, bittersweet, and sharply observed, Home Boy is at once an immigrant’s tale, a mystery, love story, and a New York story as three young Pakistani men come face to face with the aftermath of 9/11.
Join Naqvi and Akhil Sharma (An Obedient Father) for a thought-provoking discussion on writing and the immigrant landscape. Followed by a book signing with the author.
H. M. Naqvi has represented Pakistan in the National Poetry Slam and his poetry has been broadcast on NPR and BBC. Home Boy is his debut novel.
“Naqvi’s fast-paced plot, foul-mouthed erudition, and pitch-perfect dialogue make for a stellar debut.”
—Publishers Weekly
“Home Boy bursts with intelligence and energy and pathos. I haven’t read anything like it.”
—Gary Shteyngart, author of Absurdistan
Co-sponsored by SAJA (South Asian Journalists' Association).
