You may not have heard of the Beatards (unless you read about 'em here), but trust us: that's about to change. The BK trio creates incredibly energetic and positive hip-hop — with just enough stoner jokes and sex talk to keep the kids happy. Together with a few other NYC hip-hop groups and aficionados, they produce the monthly party Mixtape Riot, which challenges MCs and DJs to flip the script on everything from top 40 to gangsta rap and '90s dance hits. Tonight they welcome ardent Fresh Prince fans and New York party mainstays the Retro Kidz, along with theatrically obscene party rappers Team Facelift for what promises to be an epic night of battling beats.
