Patrick Marber's (Closer) highly anticipated After Miss Julie transplants August Strindberg's 1888 classic to the eve of the British Labour Party's historic landslide victory in 1945 while also highlighting the sadomasochistic game playing between Julie (Sienna Miller) and her father's servant John (Jonny Lee Miller). Their brief love affair blurs fantasy and reality as their ploys become life-threatening and complicated by John's fiancée Christine (Marin Ireland), who Marber fleshes out nicely in a special twist. There's also quite a bit of humor in this Julie, disarming the audience for a terrifying conclusion.
