"A TRUE GENUINE BRAZILIAN ARTIST FROM PERNAMBUCO YET MAKES his home in Minas Gerais, Kiko Klaus is getting noticed as one of the most promising artists of the Brazilian musical scene. Klaus is the owner of a great voice and has a unique style that easily mixes Afro-Brazilian rhythms like Maracatu, Ciranda, and Samba with percussive elements from Candomblé and Umbanda rituals. Still, you will find even more amazing ingredients in this delicious musical salad, such as Flamenco, Rock, Electronics and Folk music from Minas Gerais. The final result couldn’t be any better! "
-Jorge Laendro Rodrigues for Dig This Real Magazine, NY
"The lived and the Invented, is an affirmative, straightforward, coherent album. That leaves a strong impression (digital and affective) from an artist. A record full of personality, but without borders. From who has the consciousness about the steps walked. And knows that in art, not rare, less is more."
-Israel do Vale, Brazilian renowned journalist for O TEMPO newspaper
Natural from Recife, Pernambuco and influenced by its creative musical scene, Kiko Klaus brings multicultural experiences to create an album with no borders. Named “O Vivido e o Inventado” (“The Lived and the Invented”), the album has Afro-Brazilian rhythms like Maracatu, Ciranda, Samba and percussive elements from Candomblé and Umbanda rituals, organically mixed with Flamenco, Rock, Funk, Electronics...
Influences from Flamenco were accomplished during the years lived in Spain, were he worked with Latin Grammy and BBC awarded Flamenco band Ojos de Brujo, sharing experiences with them and other artists who are protagonists from the contemporary musical scene in Spain, like Macaco, Manu Chao, Amparanóia and others. In Brazil, Kiko worked with artists that had important influence on his music like Naná Vasconcelos, Nação Zumbi, Arto Lindsay, Lenine, among others.
