The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

Johannes Vermeer’s famous painting The Milkmaid (ca. 1657–58) is currently on loan from the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, to the Met through November 29. Walter Liedtke, organizer of the exhibition, will discuss the painting’s place in Vermeer’s early work and its subject’s surprising significance. The lecture begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Museum's Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Vermeer’s Masterpiece “The Milkmaid,” on view now through November 29.
