The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

Did you know that the musical heritage of China is one of the oldest continuously documented traditions with roots reaching back more than 8,000 years? The exhibition Silk and Bamboo: Music and Art of China, on view now through February 7, reveals the dynamic exchange of cultures, the continuity of musical practice, and the diversity of China’s musical traditions from the 5th century B.C. to today.

The exhibition Silk and Bamboo complements the China Festival (October 21-November 10, 2009) organized by Carnegie Hall.
