The Film Society of Lincoln Center says…

Watershed celebrates the half-century anniversary of the world-cinema explosion responsible for making Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, and Francois Truffaut household names. This weekend fest is a great crash-course of the greats — Fellini's hedonistic portrait of passion gone awry, La Dolce Vita (1960), and Antonioni's epic experimental depiction of indifferent love, L'avventura (1960), just scratch the surface of this impeccably curated program. Other highlights include Truffaut's quintessential coming of age tale, The 400 Blows (1959) and John Cassavetes' debut, Shadows (1959), which is arguably considered the birth of the indie film.
