Actor Sean Cullen spent 16 years writing this debut play and the extensive incubation has clearly paid off. Inspired by his family history, Safe Home is set in small town America circa the '50s and centers on a working class family whose sons grow up in the shadow of the Korean War. This moving drama is filled with ferocious discussions, with the family facing an issue that resonates today: enlisting in the army due to the absence of other employment options. With thoughtful performances by a solid cast, Safe Home is entirely engrossing — let's just hope that Cullen’s next play is not decades in the making.
