Of Montreal evoke the glam of Bowie and the vocal range of Freddie Mercury, with electric grooves that fall between the frivolity of disco and melancholy of Joy Division. Their last release, 2008's Skeletal Lamping, was a sonic overload — richly orchestrated brass sections contrasting with house beats and funk riffs. The accompanying tour was equally baroque, complete with costumed characters, staged mini-scenes, original animation projections, and live animals on stage. Luckily, Kevin Barnes and company are back on the road and stopping by the Highline tonight.
