Ms. Celebrity Apprentice 2009 is workshopping her latest standup act — a part of Joan Rivers' job description that gratefully does not require Donald Trump's mentoring. Long before QVC, an infamously failed talk show, red-carpet interviews, and plastic surgery jokes (resulting in several memorable Nip/Tuck guest spots), Rivers was one of the pioneering ladies (Phyllis Diller, Moms Mabley, and Totie Fields come to mind) of club and pre-cable comedy. She has never hesitated to use her own life as material and, as "pokah" player and Apprentice finalist Annie Duke learned, those of others. Tiger Woods would do well to stay in hiding.
