Iconic musician and artist Patti Smith and filmmaker Steven Sebring, director of the moving and evocative biopic on the legendary cultural chameleon, Dream of Life, further extend the parameters of their ongoing collaboration with a new installation of individual and tandem works in photography, mixed media, and sculptural installation. The anticipated film coincides with the release of Smith's new book, Just Kids, which explores her youthful friendship with Robert Mapplethorpe and his circle. The fluidity with which Smith moves between genres is impressive; the appeal of her ethereal, metaphor-laden photographs would be draw enough, even without the promised accumulation of deeply personal and revealing objects that comprise many of the installations.
