Don't know what to do with those pesky bits and pieces of the holiday season that seem to be lingering in your apartment? While we can't tell you where to put that bedazzled party hat or the moldy gingerbread house that's grown into the floor, we do have a great suggestion for your holiday tree, as the New York City Parks Department hosts its annual Mulchfest/Treecycle event at parks across the city. Just lug your hunk o' bark to the nearest location and the friendly volunteers will promptly chip it into mulch. While the mulch is mainly for Parks&Rec ventures, designated chipping sites allow you to take your mulch home (just bring your own bag). Leslie Knope would be proud.
