Sir Norman Rosenthal, moderator Born in Germany, at the end of World War II, Anselm Kiefer produces a dark, brooding and sometimes controversial art that amongst other issues, confronts that war and its terrifying consequences. A student of Joseph Beuys in the late 1960s, Keifer's early art was conceptually based, but he has become best known as a great landscape artist. An exhibition of new work opens at New York’s Gagosian Gallery, days after this event.
