“For one weekend, Printed Matter, a long-time favorite arts organization, joins forces with MoMA's PS1 to bring you this unique fair. There's a book conference, of course. But because this is a shindig brought to you by organizations interested in the progressive arts, the topics include experimental libraries and the zine renaissance, and the first day ends with a pecha kucha — a rapid-fire event in which selected speakers have five minutes to comment on an artwork. Project rooms are taken over by select exhibitors, like the retrospective on PPP Publishing, which prominently displays work by Larry Clark, and a presentation by Goteblüd of over 600 riot grrrl zines (with a working photocopier at your disposal). And we hear that Terry Richardson is signing copies of his new book out by Morel. If you'd like to pose nude for Richardson — which you can sign up to do on his site, why not skip the red tape and make your appeal to the man himself. It's all happening at the fair.”
Free and open to the public, the fifth annual NY Art Book Fair hosts over 200 international presses, booksellers, antiquarian dealers, artists and publishers from twenty countries, offering the best in contemporary art-book publishing. The fair includes special project rooms, screenings, book signings, and performances, throughout the weekend.
