Joe's Pub says…

Brooklyn, NY based band the Madison Square Gardeners play "sing along song" rock 'n' roll.  Claiming The Heartbreakers: both Petty and Thunders as their musical road map, the band has a powerful and exciting live show that has earned them support slots for the likes of The New York Dolls, Black Joe Lewis and The Honey Bears and even Southern Rock legends, Drivin' N' Cryin'.  The bands acclaimed debut album "Don't Name The Pig" featured the song "My Ex-Girlfriend" which the Examiner.com named it's Number 1 Song Of The Year for 2009.  The band's latest EP "Tune It Up, Dime It Out" was released during their most recent tour centered around a performance at The Warren Haynes X-Mas Jam as well as their triumphant homecoming show at the legendary Bowery Ballroom.  It should be noted that this band is no stranger to Joe's Pub, having played there several times as the backing band for their good friend and one of their musical heroes, Jill Sobule.

"catchy...charismatic...brings to mind a young Bruce Springsteen,"-Deli Magazine

"...a strangely potent combination."-TimeOut NY

"The Madison Square Gardeners are rad!"-Ben Kweller

"A delightful songwriter and singer with whom I have lately become enamored." - Vin Scelsa of "Idiot's Delight" on WFUV 90.7

"Julia Haltigan adds a sinister beauty to the blues. Her sultry voice is the illegitimate child of Tom Waits and Betty Boop. Her style is a wholly unique blend of the past and her own whimsical present, and is a refreshing addition to the modern music scene." - UnratedNY

"New York singer Julia Haltigan is blessed with impressive pipes... Julia and her band, the Hooligans, carry on the tradition of sharp-witted lyrics wrapped in a warm blanket of music that you can dance to, using jazz, folk, country and bluegrass." - Here Comes The Flood
