Famed literary pub Harper's Magazine assembles a handful of its best contributors to offer a witty rebuttal to that crazy amorous emotion that effects us all. The strong lineup includes The Believer founding editor Heidi Julavits, Columbia University professor and novelist Sam Lipsyte, and Colson Whitehead — who wrote for the Village Voice before embarking on a career as a novelist. Expect a savvy take on the well-worn "love sucks" theme that hits a particularly strident chord this time of year. A welcome respite for those weary of heart-shaped confections.
