The Quiet One
Made in cooperation with the Wiltwyck School for Boys, at Esopus, NY, this docu-drama is an account of a 10-year-old emotionally disturbed Black boy who is unwanted, misunderstood and inwardly tortured. Living in Harlem, the child withdraws within himself and drifts into delinquency. In rehabilitation at the Wiltwyck School, the emotional damage has been so severe that he becomes "the quiet one." With commentary written by James Agee and cinematography by photographer Helen Levitt.
