The Kitchen says…

Curated by Yasuko Yokoshi

In his newest work, choreographer Alex Escalante draws inspiration from propaganda techniques found in advertising, politics, and public relations for his investigation of the persuasive nature of language and its effects on the human body and its psyche. Escalante and his performers explore these themes by internalizing the highly-crafted architecture of political speech, the song-like vibrations of live auctioneering, and the sinister peppiness of advertising jargon.

With a live musical score composed by Jon Moniaci and performed by Nancy Garcia, Moniaci, and Escalante, The 25th Frame takes a critical look at the way in which language stimulates and influences the collective unconscious.
