Radiohole's PBR-popping, hyper-charged Whatever, Heaven Allow is a colorful mess — cast members even hurl brightly hued Jell-O shots into their own faces, splattering the set and upping the production's merrily chaotic tone. The work's sprawling cultural references are also a manic jumble: Douglas Sirk's 1950s film All That Heaven Allows, in all its Technicolor splendour, jovially bumps up against Milton's Paradise Lost. Along the way, a projected deer engages in some rather uncivilized behavior and the cast insatiably chugs beer on stage and off. All in all the boisterous doings and some sharp performances make for good, messy fun.
