Late Nights With the Boys: Confessions of a Leather Bar Chanteuse

Alex Bond's reading of selections from her fictionalized memoir, Late Nights with the Boys, is as funny as it is surprising. Recalling her nights as a cabaret singer in the gay leather bars of late '70s Dallas, Bond introduces us to alter ego Anna, a former debutante with an incredibly open mind and a big heart. Deciding to wear cockrings as bracelets on opening night, she's immediately accepted and celebrated by a community of men in the only venue free of persecution and violence. The evening's focus on love and acceptance resonates on a larger scale.
