Note:
Presenteed as part of Skirball Center's Big Red Chair Family Series. Shakespeare To Go is hosting a pre-show educational workshop starting at 10am. Those in attendance are also welcome to stay after the performance for a discussion with the actors and educators from NYU's Program in Educational Theatre in the Steinhardt School.
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is about romantic love and love of the theatre all gone wrong. However, the Bard purposely made this moonlight romp involving two couples and an amateur theatrical group trapped in a forest ruled by battling enchanted royals, administered by a loudmouthed sprite, and populated by winged creatures a bit confusing. To give young audience members a good start on their own journey towards this worldly and otherworldly Athens, Shakespeare To Go is presenting an hour-long Dream. The 20 members of NYU's Steinhardt Program in Educational Theatre are the right age to make this multidimensional romance plausible and experts at claring away the silver cobwebs of misguided and heavyhanded theatrics.
