Rubin Museum of Art says…

Grammy-nominated songwriter and composer Gary Lucas will perform an electric guitar score to The Golem, a classic German silent film from 1920, at the Rubin.

Lucas has made a specialty of creating silent film scores. He first performed his score for The Golem—-called ‘Hauntingly brilliant and meticulously timed’ by the Village Voice—-at the Rubin Museum of Art to a sold-out house in 2006.

The Golem (Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam) presents the tale of a Rabbi who creates a giant out of clay to protect Jews in 16th-century Prague after the stars portend disaster for them.
